Although I love listening to Vestal sometimes, at other times I feel like she's working too hard at trying to BE Vestal Goodman. This quiet, meditative album shows that once she quits trying to sell-one-over on the Gaither crowd, there's a greater task at hand. This album was made in the time when MTV's Unplugged was popular--I believe it was recorded in 1993 or so. It's very simple, very NOT over the top. Very not what you'd think Vestal would do.... Her voice shows its age here and that's a true asset in this case.

These are the standard church songs that many people grew up with. If she didn't know them already, I can almost see her turing the pages of the "Baptist Hymnal" as she and John Minnick pick out the songs for ... Read More:

I hadn't heard any albums from Vestal for a number of years when this album was released. It was like water in the deseret when i saw this album and listened to it. Vestal sings like she has lived it and means it. I love it.

Again, Vestal has shown in this recording why she is called the "Queen of Gospel". Beautifully done, this recording is probably the best solo recording I have ever heard. You will want this CD for your collection.

Vestal Goodman just gets better and better! Every song is sung to His glory and honor. Her voice rings true and clear on evey single song. These are old-time Gospel hymns sung as they ought to be! What a JOY to listen to!
