Editorial Review: Amazon.com: Mike Myers's love letter to mid-'60s pop kitsch (and understated critique of the hardcore '90s) may not have wowed many critics, but it soldiered quirkily along to become a true cult hit. Its soundtrack is one of the film's more underrated charms--a savvy mix of '60s and '90s influences that are by turns infectiously silly (the Powers-fronted Ming Tea's earnestly energetic "BBC") and downright sublime (Burt Bacharach and the Posies' new take on "What the World Needs Now").  Rating:  - I'm not an Austin Powers fan, but . . . The Austin Powers movies did nothing for me. Actually, I only saw the first one and couldn't wait for it to be over. But this soundtrack is great!! It is sooo much fun to hear all these songs from the 60's and 70's again. It's a blast. I first heard it in an exercise class and everyone in the class wanted to know the title of the cd. Enjoy the fun!! Rating: - Question about missing songDoes anyone know the music they played in the background when Austin and Vanessa went into the casino where #2 and Alotta Fagina were? Rating: - Missing SongAlbum is ok but does anyone know the title of the song at the end of the movie credits? Rating: - Allow myself, to introduce......myself.All around one of the great tribute/spoof movies, and the music is just as good. I also have "The Spy Who Shagged Me" soundtrack, and even though it's groovy too, this is better. You get the old classics "Incense and Peppermints" and "What the World Needs Now is Love". New songs that sound 60's from the "Cardigans" and "Susanna Hoffs". Plus a few other cool numbers like "Female of the Species", "You Showed Me", and the hands on "I Touch Myself". Overall it's just a cool bunch of music whether you liked the movie or not. It should have you shaging in no time. Rating:  - Yeah, baby.... I reckonThere's some very good music on this CD, including the fun "BBC" by Ming Tea. I've had the CD for a few years now and I'm a little tired of it, but it's still a fun listen. |
