I was very dissapointed with this CD! I expected the original recordings by the original artists. I guess I didn't or couldn't read the fine print, since I purchased it online. I would not buy another title in this series. The music sounds like a flat imitation, with instruments missing.

The bad reviews you read here do contain the truth; however, it's not the complete truth. For instance, this particular CD states on the back (albeit in tiny print): "All selections are new stereo recordings, except selections marked (*) are the original recordings." On this CD, you'll find original recordings of "Time of the Season" by The Zombies, and "Oh, What A Night" by The Dells. This is NOT the pop song by Frankie Valli ("Oh, what a night / Late December back in '63..."), but the earlier more soulful one ("Oh what a night, to love you dear / Oh what a night, to hold you near / Oh what a night, to squeeze you dear / that's why I love you so.") That song is the only reason I bought the CD , but "Time of the Season" was a nice bonus. I'll ... Read More:

Not only are these re-recordings of great old hits, but they're not even by the same musicians. As the original lyricist/drummer of one of the bands with a hit on this album, I can assure you that this wasn't the original band. Say, it was a six-piece group. Well, decades ago, four or five of us six sold our rights away to claim any title on future covers of our original tune(s). What you're listening to is not even a re-recording in this sense. You're listening to another band of six guys, two of whom were in the original group only, doing a cover version of our great old hit.

If you are like me, and were looking for some original 60's hits, DO NOT buy ANY of these class reunion CD's. It says "original artists", but that doesn't necessarily mean the "original hits" as they sounded at that time. Most of these songs sounded like they were being performed by some cheesy cover bands, and I am just sorry I wasted my money and didn't read other people's reviews first.

This is a collection of re-recordings by the "original" artists. Steer clear if you're a collector of authentic 60s music.
