 Rating: - From the Deep Vault!This live set has been out of print for years. Now those of us who grew up with this album can have it again! This should not be your very first Pat Martino CD. I recommend "Consciousness", "El Hombre" or "East!" for tightness, variety and sound quality. "Live" however has the grace of stretching out. It is a long trance in vintage 70s style with Fender Rhodes and electric bass supporting a very animated Pat Martino. "Special Door" is a cooker that has Martino spinning his hypnotic lines in a loose and conversational give-and-take, stop-and-start rendering that he was known for. Another great take is a tune he still does regularly: Sunny. If you are a fan and do not have this CD you will not be disappointed! |
