This is terrific with only one drawback, history buffs will want the rest of the Sharpe career written up in the same fashion immediately! hence the 4 star and not 5 star rating.

An interesting walk through the era of the Sharpe novels with background stories on the state of the Armed Forces in England, India and France. Tie-ins to the novels of actual events, artwork of the men and materials of the day, and of course maps of the campaigns keep the interest of the Sharpe series going considering the dearth of New Sharpe adventures that are currently available.

The book was delivered quickly and I previewed the first few pages. Before I knew it, this book had jumped to the top of my-time reading list. I look foward to enjoying this book when my course reading is done for the day. Anyone who is a fan of the Sharpe movies will like this book, because it gives a more detail into Sharpe's mindset and the campaigns he participated in.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK IF YOU ARE A SHARPE LOVER. GREAT ON HIS EARLY LIFE AND FIGHTING EQUIPMENT.

This is in my opinion a must have for any Sharpe fan. It is perhaps the best of its type I have ever seen. Historical novels are usually something I enjoy, but having this volume really helps place the fictional charter into the historical mix. This has for me given me a much better insight into the real events of the time. The uniforms, equipment, the societal expectations -- the whole spectrum. Very intersting -- get it.
