The CD, Henryk Górecki's Symphony No. 3 in three parts is consistent in its elegance and somber tone throughout. Composed in 1976 in the small town of Katowice, the Symphony take us through the account of what occurred in another small town outside Katowice, named OSwiecim, better known to the world as Auschwitz. I find it hard to rate this. I bought it to see Pavarotti in the role of Rodolfo, having listened for years to his superb performance under Karajan. He and Scotto get top marks, visually and vocally, in my book. I'm not as bothered as some people are by Pavarotti's slightly immobile acting, and Scotto more than makes up for him in terms of visual impact. Supporting roles are well taken and Levine's conducting, while not in Karajan's class to my taste, is effective. Sets are a bit drab but after all, this is poverty-striken bohemian life we're looking at. Video quality is OK, though some allowance must be made for its age. Here's the big "but". There are 3 Sarah albums that soar above just anything else out there today.(1) LaLuna,(2) Time To Say Goodbye,(3) Eden..It is asking too much for anyone to continue on such a high level, but this album is just about as good as these three! There are some nifty ,toe-tapping neo-disco tunes here which might even be called joyful, especially the first 3! And I admit I first did not really like this CD, but on further playing, it's now among my all-time favorites.On a few tunes, including the title "Harem", Sarah's breathing is very audible, something the sound engineers should have eliminated. This was the first Bocelli CD I heard. A friend thought I would like it and got it for me for Christmas. I loved it the first time I heard it. It was an outstanding collection of Christmas hymns, we actually sang one in my church choir and one in my school choir. It has helped expanded my library of songs, since I sing Tenor. So now when I go to sing at Christmas and Holiday shows I can now do more than Jingle Bells, and Away in a Manger.

With Andrea's outstanding Tenor range this is an excellant addition to anyone's music collection.

I love the Irish tenors This CD was a bit more than I'd bargined for. It tears your heart out. A voice like that and a subject matter so powerful. I listened to it then went back the next day to listen again. It's absolutely overpowering in it's emotion. Don't expect light entertainment, expect to be moved.
