The Trinity Session

This is one solid recording. The Trinity Session is worthy of being called an audiophile's delight. The sonics are fabulous, and the music ain't bad either! Margo Timmins voice is haunting. Whoever recorded this disc knew what they were doing. This should be manditory listening for engineers. [Those that aren't already deaf.] I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite track, they are all great. "Blue Moon, Song for Elvis, and I'm so lonesome I could cry," come to mind. While I love, Mott the Hoople's "Sweet Jane". The Junkies give it a new lease on life. I know Lou Reed wrote it, never been a big fan of his style, with the exception of "walk on the Wild Side. Okay, I'll admit his version isn't too bad, but The Junkies do it so well.

Hey All

CBC radio is airing a new program on Sunday Nights called Revolutions Per Minute, cleverly doing profiles of a number of influential Canadian albums that basically were revolutionary in thier time. The first show was last night October 19,2008 and they did "Music from Big Pink"


Ashamedly I don't have a copy of this album and don't think I've heard it from beginning to end ever. I was amazed at the songs on it and the whole story of how The Band came to make it and how it influenced so many other greats of the day, such as Eric Clapton, etc.

One thing I learned was "The Long Black Veil" was the only song on Big Pink not written by them. I thought the man in black, Johnny Cash, wrote it. Wrong. it's an old American traditional. The Band's ... Read More:

Three weeks ago I had never heard of The Duhks. Then I happened to be listening to CBC'c "Sounds Like Canada" and got to experience them for the first time. Suffice it to say, I was on Amazon.com within the hour buying both of their albums.

Jessee, the lead singer, has no problem going from a traditional country tune like "Out Of The Rain" to a heavy acapella gospel song Moses Don't Get Lost. Her voice is amazing.

I don't want to leave out the rest of the band, however, with two very good instrumental fiddle pieces, and a wonderful 'cajun' tune "Down To The River", which is the only song on the album not lead by Jessee.

The only thing that would make this CD better is if it had even more Duhks songs on it.

I heard this on CBC radio recently and instantly fell in love with it. It is an absolutely beautiful CD and my favourite is "Affairs of the Heart". It is intoxicating, bold, rich, lush, passionate, feverish, soothing, mesmerizing, addictive, moving, melodic, captivating, intense, complex and simple, simply orgasmic. I really like this CD and you will, too. Thank you Marjan Mozetich. (Who is he, by the way?)

When I was little my mother used to play Crosby Stills & Nash back then I didn't like them. My Sophomre year in High School (1991) my mother bought this CD. I really enjoyed listening to it then and would love to get another copy of it( ours got scratched form listening to it so much, this was mainly my doing!). It wasn't until I listened to this CD that I changed my outlook in life and on many other things. I seriously became a hippy after listening to this CD. Two years later I was voted class hippy and went to see CSN every year in the summer before the Beach Boys would appear. CSN and Beach Boys were the two concerts I would see every year. This is a great introduction to CSNY and good intro to their styles of music.

Kd Lang is ,in my opinion,the best North American female voice of her time.But not all of her Cds are as satisfying as this one.This one shows the Nashville influenced side of Kathryn Dawn Lang as arranged by Owen Bradley who also produced Patsy Cline.In songs like BLACK COFFEE,the title track and I WISH I DIDN'T LOVE YOU SO she passionately and contemporarily delivers tunes written way before her time.She sings DON'T LEt THE STARS...a 50's hit with
unique vigor and belts out the CHris ISaak penned WESTERN STARS so appropriately as the disk opener.It was the first Kd Cd I ever bought and what an introduction it was!
