This is a mature confident Joni at her best. She takes a relationship from beginning to end singing the appropriate songs for each phase of the relationship. I much prefer her newer renditions of her older songs, such as, Both Sides Now and A Case of You. There is a sexy smokey quality to her voice that gives the music emotion and depth. I play this CD frequently and never tire of it.

Former (Guess Who) lead singer Burton Cummings shines in this fantastic collection of songs by him as a solo artist. He definitely can "Stand Tall" with the magnitude of these songs. Besides his smash hit he sounds fantastic on the songs " Nothing Rhymed ", "Is It Really Right ", " Charlemagne ", " My Own Way To Rock ", " Free " and "Heart" along with several others. I can proudly say as a thirty-five year fan of Burton Cummings that he is another very gifted musician with a voice to match, and this "The Burton Cummings Collection" CD is definitely astounding and I give Burton and Rhino "TWO THUMBS UP" on this one.

someone recently lent me a cd of this album and after a couple of listens I had to dig out my original LP (bought in 1973!) and compare the sound. The vinyl blows the cd away, it is crisp and powerful; the cd is muffled and lo-fi. Just another classic album crying out for a serious remastering, come on Neil! Get on with it. For a strict comparison play "Old Man" on this cd and then play the version on Youngs greatest hits from 18 months ago and you will clearly see what I mean.

This CD is my favorite Raffi CD ever. Baby Beluga and Joshua Giraffe are both FANTASTIC!! My 4-year-old son loves them and asks to hear them over and over. These songs are full length, unlike a lot of Raffi music. I can't say enough about this CD.

Doesn't get any better than this cd. Velvet smooth vocals, extraordinary production & supporting musicians. While the song mix may be somewhat eclectic, there would be no disputing that the Bublé signature has been carefully and respectfully put to each and every song. As Canada's Juno Choice as Best New Artist only a few short years ago, Bublé now finds himself recognized with 5 (five!) Juno nominations for this years awards - homegrown talent has hit the world stage. Long live Michael Bublé, who talks proudly about our great country and I'm proud of him, a Canadian Crooning Treasure.

If you do not own a Barenaked Ladies CD this is a good selection for you. I suspect those new to the Ladies will find tracks on thsi CD they are familiar with but did not know the artist.
My favorites on this disc include, "Jane", "Lovers in a dangerous Time", and a very nice live recording of "What a good boy".

I cannot think of one weak album by Neil Young AND CRAZY HORSE that came out during the 70s. Some of his albums with other musicians didn't quite cut it for me (e.g., Journey through the Past). ZUMA is a perfect example of Neil & Crazy Horse doing what they do best: flexing their rock and roll muscles.
Forget the crummy cover art. Ignore the throwaway "Through My Sails" which I think he did only to give the three other guys a little work doing their downturns. This album cooks with gas and nitro. "Drive Back" is a rocking blues tune, as is "Barstool Blues". We all know the moody boiler, "Cortez the Killer", is an overlooked classic. And "Stupid Girl" probably has one of the most outrageous lyrics in music history: "Your ... Read More:

.. would have done this on her own I'd have added the fifth star to my review! Maybe I'm a little partial (I'm a big fan of miss kd) but I think that this project would have been managed so much better by kd alone. Probably she would have choosen a different kind of production, (by T Bone Burnett) that sometimes is a little... anonymous, flat, to much classicaly jazz.
The highlights of the project are "A kiss to build a dream on", "Exactly like you" and mainly "That luky old sun", probably the most touchy standard version of the album.. and kd is alone. In any case, I recommend this album, unless you really can't bear Tony's voice. You won't be disappointed by kd's talent.

I don't exactly consider myself a big Neil Young fan, I'm not the kind of person who would buy every album with his name on it (especially many of the albums he done in the 1980s, such as Landing on Water), but After the Gold Rush, his third album (second with Crazy Horse) is truly deserving of classic status. This album has been with me most of my life, thanks to my parents owning a copy. This album also premiered a certain 17 year old by the name of Nils Lofgren, on piano. This album has many different styles from acoustic ballads, to rockers, to short singalongs. The album starts off with "Tell Me Why", which is a truly great acoustic piece. The title track is a piano-oriented ballad with an enviromental theme concerning the new decade (the 1970s, that is). "Only Love Can Break ... Read More:
