I'm not a huge "rock" fan, and I do find many of the tracks on Morissette's new CD are such, yet I am still completely in love with this album. There's just enough mix of Morissette's unique voice entangled with funky techno or rockin' electric guitar. I wouldn't listen to this CD with my young kids, but it's awesome for exercising to.
The first track called Citizen of the Planet is by far my favourite on this album. But I also enjoy Underneath, Strait Jacket, and Versions of Violence as well. Heck, I love all the songs.
I just finished reading a bunch of interviews from Morissette's website . I am so pleasantly surprised how insightful and thought-provoking she is.

A fitting way to start off this review would be by quoting Bob Seger; "Twenty years now. Where'd they go?" I'm sure the four founding members of The Barra MacNeils have that same feeling as they look back on two decades of writing, arranging, recording and performing. At one time there were two Royal Families of Cape Breton Music but unfortunately fate dealt a harsh card to The Rankin Family and took an irreplaceable part of the musical tapestry that makes this Island known around the world for it's true love of traditional music.
If you count the DVD that was released in 2001, this CD makes it a baker's dozen of recordings the Sydney Mines family has released. Over the years the only major change in the line up was the addition of the ... Read More:

Like Colin James, I'm a musician living in Vancouver, and his sometime bassist Doug Elliott also plays with my band, but that's not why I recommend this album. "Christmas" is the latest in a long series of Little Big Band projects stretching back to 1992, and Colin has a deft way with the jump-blues guitar-horns-organ format, which he revived long before Brian Setzer.
What that means is this album, though it contains both traditional chestnuts ("I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Let It Snow," "Baybe It's Cold Outside") and some swingin' alternatives ("Cool Yule," "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus," the gospel-style "Go Where I Send Thee"), is remarkably refreshing in the sea of sappy-sweet versions you hear this time of year. Colin swings and ... Read More:

After waiting all these years, Leonard finally came down from the mountain to deliver this mouse. Most of the song lyrics are just "Westernized" Zen cliches. You want to know the sound of one hand clapping---listen to this CD and you'll find out. Boring!!!!
The only song that shows his wry sense of humor is "That Don't Make It Junk."
Also, Leonard, spring for a real studio next time with real musicians. Trading hard-drives with Sharon (Oh, Sharon, beautiful Sharon...What Happened???!!!) just didn't pan out.

I can't figure out why people don't find this album as good as the Godspeed's others. In my opinion it easily stacks up to F#A#oo, which is my least favorite GYBE! release.
This seems to be the most guitar-driven album they've put out, but that's not a bad thing. The reverb and delay laden guitars as well as Efirm's tremoloed screwdriver guitar playing fit the band's compositions (they make compositions, not songs) perfectly.
Yanqui U.X.O. is a must have for any post-rock fan; don't miss out on it. 4.5 stars.
Standout tracks: Rockets Fall On Rocket Falls, Motherf***er=Redeemer (Part 2)

M. Buble is excellent in his singing! It looks like the producer had tried hard to promote the artist or to lengthen the recording time by adding many minutes of blah blah fillers in between songs which break the listensers' attention. The recording quality is a bit better than the sixties. At times, the brass sounds are not as clear and as sharp as the rest of the orchestra. As sound quality, it is around 3/5 as compared to Diana Krall's Live in Paris. Regrettable! I hate to press the fast forward button. In constrast, I have often used the repeat chapter button when listening to "Live In Paris"!

A greatlive CD by the best Canadian band ever. Runnin' Back To Saskatoon should be the anthem for Western Canada! Pain Train is a classic . I went to the "Runnin' Back Through Canada" concert in Craven,Sask. The music hasn't changed in over 30 years ,still a great band !
