The first three singles from One X have topped the Billboard Mainstream charts. Animal I have Become reached #1. Pain reached #1. Never Too Late has reached #1 this week. Three Days Grace have delivered a hugely successful album with three #1 singles from the album. Yes, this album should have won a Juno award- but Award shows are all political and quite often, the artist or song that deserves to win is overlooked or cast aside. Juno Awards aside, this is quite possibly one of the best rock albums from 2006. Three Days Grace have a promising future and this Canadian act know how to deliver!! One X is a masterpiece. An amazing album!!

This 1988 work which followed 1984's Various Positions, is very much a pop album in tune and sound. Lyrically it has moments of profundity as in all of Cohen's work but there is a lighter touch. Although keyboards are prominent, John Bilezikjian & Raffi Hakopian whose inputs made Recent Songs so special, respectively embellish Everybody Knows and Take This Waltz.
Jazz Police & Everybody Knows were co-written by others while Take This Waltz is based on the Lorca poem Little Viennese Waltz. On every track Leonard's voice is supported by either Anjani Thomas or Jennifer Warnes, and by both on Ain't No Cure For Love. It is worth noting that First We Take Manhattan lacks the dramatic German newscast intro of the Jennifer Warnes ... Read More:

Kaplans recording of Mahler 2 is another great version of a masterpiece. The music is smooth and forceful and extremely well produced Kaplans performance never errs on the side of excessive soppiness or cliches. The andante is especially beautifully played. The choir in the Scherzo is warm and full and well captured balancing well with the orchestra and the sound is brilliantly recorded. Not as lush a performance as Tennstedt, as fiery as Rattle or as majestic as Solti but a great version nonetheless.

'Signals' (often mistakenly called 'Subdivisions' by non-fans) is a continued growth as well as a departure for the band. The influence of the new bands of the day, such as the Police, Ultravox, and Visage, are readily apparent. The times were changing, and Rush was willing and able to change with them. Gone were the Science Fiction and dytopian infused themes, to be replaced by an exploration of humanity and technology.
The album grabs you immendiately. The opening bass notes of "Subdivisions" rivets your attention. Throughout this amazing song, the guitar is a bit back in the mix (this situation is much improved in live releases and performances of the song--especially on the 'Snakes & Arrows Live' set, where Alex brings out his Les Paul to cut through ... Not many singer-songwriters can present something new with a compilation CD spanning 35 years of their artistic career. It has worked brilliantly for critically acclaimed Canadian icon, Bruce Cockburn. In particular, the collection features compositions from the early seventies that may no longer be familiar. Others are taken from various recordings made in the nineties. Three pieces are new creations recorded especially for this CD. Expertly produced by Bruce and long term friend and collaborator Colin Linden, they all sound new and fresh. Bruce is a acoustic guitar virtuoso as well as a composer expressing himself in many styles and rhythms: from blues to jazz to country and folk. The result is one hour and eight minutes of total listening pleasure.

chronicles covers rush history so far. i do like the fact that they covered all the singles up to the time of release. i never did get into rush seriously until signals. it is nice to hear the older music along with the new music. rush is the most underplayed group here in winnipeg but yet some of us do keep our ears open for the new stuff from rush. i do strongly recommend this double cd for those wanting to see this canadian rock group is all about.

Loose is an amazing album in my opinion. I think its probably one of my favourite albums of the year.
Every song on it is good. I think my least favourite is Maneater which is still a pretty good song.
Best tracks - Afraid, Do It, Showtime, In Gods Hands, All Good Things Come to An End.
Te Busque is also really good. The chorus is in Portugese but the song is still amazing.

This is a great CD. Not perfect. But great. When I saw Neil Young in 1988 at the CNE he did a song called "Ordinary People" at the end of the 20 min. song he got a standing ovation. That is the only time in 27 years of concert going that i have seen that happen for an unreleased song. Now 19 years later the song gets released on "Chrome Dreams 2" and it's just as good as i remembered it. This song will sit aside Neil's best work!
The rest of the album is stonger then anything he has done in the last 15 years. "Dirty Old Man" is in the vain of "Piece Of Crap" and "F'!#in' Up" and "No Hidden Path" brings to mind songs like "Cortez The Killer". This CD is not acoustic (Like Harvest) and not electric (Like Ragged Glory) but a little of both. The album it is the closest in style to is the CD the first ... Read More:
