This guy is simply one of Canada's national treasures. He gets better with each album and never seems to compromise his artistic integrity for the sake of a buck. Could he put out more commercial albums and cash in? Sure. Instead, he continues to make the kind of music that he loves, and let me tell you, it shows. Like someone who's diverse? Colin James is your guy. He comfortably moves from Rock and Roll, to Blues, to Swing/Big Band, to quietly powerful acoustic numbers. Is there nothing this guy can't do? Leonard Cohen followed up his debut album with another masterpiece, this collection of magnificent songs of solitude, despair and resignation. Besides The Partisan, a song about the French resistance with its beautiful French verses and female vocals, all compositions are by Cohen.

The most popular number here is Bird On A Wire that has been covered by artists as diverse as Johnny Cash, Joe Cocker, Judy Collins, Rita Coolidge, Tim Hardin, The Neville Brothers and Jennifer Warnes.

Live at the Fillmore East

Many reviews I've seen complain about the fact that the entire show of the Fillmore is not on this cd. Well, I'd say what we have here is better than nothing considering the low output of live Neil from the early years.

The sound on this cd is good and very enjoyable. The set is entirely electric with the original Crazy Horse line-up. Among the songs, we have a good version of Winterlong, which had not been released on a studio album and an unreleased song, Wonderin', a song with a country feel. Nothing exceptionnal, but it's always fine to get the unreleased songs Neil did live only. The real treats on this disc are Down by the river and one of the best versions of Cowgirl in the sand. Though the Top 40 hits Help Me and Free Man in Paris are worth the price of this CD, Court and Spark, as a whole, is a great arrangement of tunes released during what is perhaps the Golden Age of Songwriting.
Not your typical folk Joni Mitchell material, this is essentially her jazz phase release; some might say that it is her signature piece. Lift Your Skinny Fists Like An

First of all this music is not for everyone, some find it boring and repetitive(i hope that I spelled taht correct). However if you enjoy long instrumental music, this is THE album for you.
I discovered this band through a live performance I heard on the radio, I was so hypnotised by the music, that I went out and bought every album they had out. I have to say that this is my favorite together with the slow riot EP. These two records are simply the best in this sort of music.
If you like bands like Mogwai or Explosions in the sky, you should really buy this album. You can also try any A Silver Mount Zion album, they're beautiful as well.

The Singable Songs Collection

My children listened to some of the songs on this album about 20 - 25 years ago. I know they could still sing the words to most of them as they thoroughly enjoyed the record (yes album) all that time ago.
I am definately going to purchase Raffi music for their grandchildren as it is so neat and easy to sing along with. Any child would love these happy songs by Raffi.

Forget this man lays his guitar on his lap and CREATED this style of playing the electric guitar. I know of no other guitar player or have heard of one in the world who plays his electric guitar laying across his lap(If there is, please enlighten me). Forget he's blind. Forget he plays with 2 talented, underrated musicians(a bass player and a drummer - a 3 piece).
Just listen to this music with your eyes closed and if you can't hear and believe this is some of the best music ever written(to be compared with Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page), you don't have a good ear for music. This is definitely one of the best albums of the 1990's and certainly one of k.d. lang's best (although my favourite is the incredible "Absolute Torch and Twang"). The album has one beautiful song after another. As gorgeous as the songs are, they are made even more extraordinary by k.d.'s heartfelt and stunning vocals. What a voice!!!

No doubt most people have heard "Constant Craving" and perhaps "Miss Chatelaine". They are great songs, but the highlights on this album are "Still Thrives This Love" and "Mind Of Love".

This album is a definite keeper.
