This disc is quite a change from Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà previous album, the smooth and soothing Un Conte De Fees/Fairy Tale.
While exploring a whole new world with Glass Music, she reminds us of some of the incredible music he composed and she reminds us of some good films (Mishima, La Belle & La Bête). Captivating, never boring, with this Portrait, she made a moving disc.

This re-release by Verve preserves, in my opinion, one of the best trio performances. 'In the Still of the Night', Peterson's subtle single melody nuances and left hand chords are complimented by Ray Brown's wonderful bass. Ed Thigpen maintains the tempo with his stylish brush technique. The rest of the CD is hampered only slightly by the 'volme' inconsistencies from one number to the next, created by the studio. This is a great CD.

This is a wonderful collection of great performances of wonderful songs from the 70's. The best track is a beautiful cover of Boston's More Than A Feeling. The only disappointment is the ukelele strumming on Moon Shadow. If you have fond memories of songs from the seventies this is a disc you will love. And if you don't remember the seventies, this is a great introduction.

I heard this on CBC radio recently and instantly fell in love with it. It is an absolutely beautiful CD and my favourite is "Affairs of the Heart". It is intoxicating, bold, rich, lush, passionate, feverish, soothing, mesmerizing, addictive, moving, melodic, captivating, intense, complex and simple, simply orgasmic. I really like this CD and you will, too. Thank you Marjan Mozetich. (Who is he, by the way?)

In 2004, any recording by Luciano Pavarotti (Decca`s own house tenor) will seem great to many people. But not so much because of Pavarotti, but more so because there aren`t any really good tenors today. On this CD, there is however just too much of Pavarotti. He doesn`t sound romantic(Bohème or Madama Butterfly) and certainly not dramatic(Pagliacci). His voice, although he sings with some freedom and brilliance in the upper register when his breathing allows it, does not evoke exstacy or other overwhelming feelings. But he is certainly famouse, no doubt about that. This CD is for beginners in Opera. And therefore it is OK. But Pavarotti is merely one of many good singers, and there were better singers and greater artists before him. Two ... Read More:

Here you see Pavarotti at his best in a great Christmas Special! The magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral in Montréal provides a wonderful background for this concert. I only wish the producers made some effort to improve the video to the DVD quality.
In the end, Pavarotti's superb performance easily makes-up for the video quality.
Get this DVD - you'll enjoy it Christmas after Christmas!

Very nice cd, that brings many pleasant memories of the film. It captures the spirit of France and "paints" a musical landscape of France with the small villages, cabares, cafes and much much more.
