Her first CD "This Is Me", earned her the opening spot on the Black Eyed Peas' Canadian tour.
This, in turn, led to a creative collaboration with BEP drummer Keith Harris, who produced her even more confident new album, "Revival".
For those who dont know, Jully Black is a 29 Years Old Jamaican RnB artist out of Toronto.
The CD from comes full of feeling and vibe...if you like soul, funky jazzy this is one of the best releases of the moment...
When I first listened to the album I couldn't believe in the fantastic voice that she manages to put!!
I' m trying to imagine her on a live performance.
Words aren't enough.....buy it.....listen to it till your hears get fed up of it.

Take two comedians with an interest in the blues, give them a backup band, a movie, and some creative license, and look at what comes out...

The songs go from the campy (Peter Gunn & Rawhide) to the dancable (Shake Your Tail Feathers) to the standard (Sweet Home Chicago & Minnie the Moocher). With a phenomenal backup band (The old Saturday Night Live orchestra) and some classic guest vocalists (Chaka Khan, James Brown and Ray Charles to name a few) it's a treat for the ears. Eleven songs pack both a variety and depth of fun music.

The only downside on the album is two missing songs. Some might expect Soul Man, which was perhaps Belushi & Akroyd's most famous tune. I personally missed John Lee Hooker's Boom ... Read More:

I listen to the album, and I am moved. Both physically and emotionally. Hearing 'Sweat of Your Brow', '5X Love', and 'Double Life' I cant help but get my groove on and move myself. "Livin in the Ghetto' explains a story of that in the title, and "I travelled" a song she wrote for her own mother, emotional, and can be reflected by many. The album is definitely a keeper to enjoy through the ages. A must for R&B lovers.

Deborah Cox is by for the most sophisticated R&B singer around today. Her elegance and class are truly superior. This album chronicles her R&B hits as well as some of her dance remixes. The unique thing about her is she has these two disctint styles, yet is superb at both. The ballad "we can't be friends" brings tears to my eyes everytime I see it. When I'm at a club and one of Ms. Cox's remixes comes on, I'm all over the dance floor. Included on this album, are the remixes to "Things Just Ain't The Same", and "Play your Part" two of my favorite remixes. THis cd is a must. He has the best voice and such a great album with some upbeat touches to it. Very relaxing and I cannot wait for another one of his cd's to come out. WHERES HIS CONCERTS, that would be a great show to see!

Deborah takes the less is more approach with her first collection of standards. With a restraint that gives the arrangements plenty of room to breathe, she croons beautifully, showing us different facets of her vocal personality.
While her hits have generally called on her to be very angry or very sad, these classic songs allow her to be at turns gentle, sassy, reflective, happy and wry. The productions and arrangements are reminiscent of the golden era of era of Billie, Sarah, Dinah and others, but contain enough surprises to keep them from sounding old-fashioned.

Definitive Collection

Everyone raves about his album.

It certianly deserves it. The Blues Brothers and their allstar band were a musical miracle, and everyone of their songs is precious. Buying one of their albums is getting a unheard of greatest hits album of Soul, R&B, and a few others mixed in to keep it interesting.

But why settle for 20 songs when they released 35 or so?

Buy Blues Brothers Complete (it's about 80% more expensive [$18 or so]) but well worth it, as this album is missing the funky She Caught The Katy, very well done Perry Mason Theme, the memorable Shotgun Blues and Groove Me (both underatted) and others to round out the complete set.
