I have around 400 CD's and this one is in the top 5 easily.....A great live album that you can listen to over and over again. And I will totally agree with everyone else here, the sound quality is great.

Also if you like this album you should check out his DVD "A night at the Metropolis"....which was filmed in the same venue as this CD....It is just as good as this CD...

When I Was a Boy

This music is at times almost cunningly dissonant and yet it builds into an almost sensual invocation in "Temple."

"Calling All Angels" is far more likeable than the first selection and you feel drawn into listening to the rest of the songs because this sound is rather original in some regards.

"Love is Everything" gets a bit introspective.

"Sail Across the Water" is more an explanation of love that takes a while to take off and then is actually quite beautiful. A conversation with love and about love.

"All the Candles in the World" is probably one of the most unique songs I've ever heard. This is music that is going to a place that is ancient and modern all at once. Most confusing. LOL First ... Read More:

I was first introduced by my friend Rita (Toronto) to Jane's music by the "No Borders Here" lp, about 23 years ago, in Ann Arbor. Her bass player in those days was John Switzer, who I had known in a previous decade playing at a bar, The Halton Hotel, in Oakville, Ontario for other artists.

Jane always has 'pushed the envelope' of musical and poetic expression from growing up north of the the U.S./Canada border. Bound By the Beauty

Judging by the quality of the songs here, this album will forever remain in my top 10 best album in all genres. She sings about love, loneliness and nature in a most uplifting style. The songs have a type of spiritual quality, from the soaring Bound By The Beauty, to the yearning Something About Trains and Everything Reminds Me..., including the intricately structured Hockey where the swear words do not detract from this spirituality at all. Graceful melodies, poetic lyrics and her crystal voice make this a true classic, on a par with When I Was A Boy. I bless the day I discovered the musical vision of Jane Siberry.

I have had the pleaure of listening to Jesse Cook live in Guelph Ontario, and they played a few songs from this CD. I was very very impressed and I still consider it to be the best live performance I have seen. This album is a fusion of many styles and should be listened to without trying to force it into one genre or another. All of the performers on this CD are very talented artists and they mesh perfectly. Very creative use of many instruments including a wooden box. The music is rich and detailed but simple at the same time.

Highly recommended
