by: Bran Van 3000

Release Date June 14, 2001
Bran Van 3000's 1998 album Glee was hailed by many to be a great pastiche of genres, and I'll give it that. There are a lot of different sounds piled in there, but the problem I had was that it felt like it was darker than it should have been. It's hard to explain it, but it sounded like there was a happy album wanting to get out there, but the band was feeling too bitter to let it fly, and there's a number of pointless interludes and boring songs thrown in there. Discosis, I was pleasantly surprised to hear, lets everything go. The six-minute opener dispelled any fears I had of more cumbersome rock and rapping. The Bran Van guys found some old vocal track that Curtis Mayfield recorded, but never used, and somehow got the rights to use it in ... Read More:

Ultimate Deborah Cox

by: Deborah Cox

Release Date May 18, 2004
Deborah Cox is by for the most sophisticated R&B singer around today. Her elegance and class are truly superior. This album chronicles her R&B hits as well as some of her dance remixes. The unique thing about her is she has these two disctint styles, yet is superb at both. The ballad "we can't be friends" brings tears to my eyes everytime I see it. When I'm at a club and one of Ms. Cox's remixes comes on, I'm all over the dance floor. Included on this album, are the remixes to "Things Just Ain't The Same", and "Play your Part" two of my favorite remixes. It also includes the duet with Whitney Houston, "Same Script, Different Cast", which would've been a smash hit had Ms. Houston been well at the time it was to ... Read More:

Destination Moon

CD-Charts > Music > Dance and DJ
by: Deborah Cox

Release Date May 29, 2007
Deborah takes the less is more approach with her first collection of standards. With a restraint that gives the arrangements plenty of room to breathe, she croons beautifully, showing us different facets of her vocal personality.
While her hits have generally called on her to be very angry or very sad, these classic songs allow her to be at turns gentle, sassy, reflective, happy and wry. The productions and arrangements are reminiscent of the golden era of era of Billie, Sarah, Dinah and others, but contain enough surprises to keep them from sounding old-fashioned.
Deborah - who shifted from pop siren to Broadway star with Aida, further expands her range to include jazz, blues and big band. Cox and her backing musicians were recorded live in the ... Read More:

by: Bran Van 3000

Release Date August 05, 2003
Bran Van 3000, or BV3, is at first a collective music ensemble based in Montréal, Canada. This album is so diversified, so well worked out, that even if every song is different from another, they , together, all make sense.Hard to follow? Well it at least gives a good reprensation of this album.

In a few words, it's one of the best canadian album you can lay your hands on. Even if you don't like it at first, I promise that, at some point in your life, you'll be glad you bought it.

by: Skinny Puppy

Release Date January 02, 2006
I have been a long time Skinny Puppy fan, going all the way back to the mid 80's and have followed them all the way to present day and all their side & solo projects (download, rx, tear garden, ohgr, etc) and this is a must have for any Skinny Puppy fan's collection. A lot of the songs on the B Sides are still classic hits on Industrial dance floors today, including songs like Addiction, Yes He Ran, Mirror Saw, Tin Omen I, Nature's Revenge and Shore Lined Poison. This is a must own CD for all Skinny Puppy fans and as a fan and DJ of industrial music I would highly recommend owning this CD.
