He was also known as the BLIND Canadian guitar wizard who played the guitar in his lap like know one else did.

This guy is simply one of Canada's national treasures. He gets better with each album and never seems to compromise his artistic integrity for the sake of a buck. Could he put out more commercial albums and cash in? Sure. Instead, he continues to make the kind of music that he loves, and let me tell you, it shows. Like someone who's diverse? Colin James is your guy. He comfortably moves from Rock and Roll, to Blues, to Swing/Big Band, to quietly powerful acoustic numbers. Is there nothing this guy can't do? If you haven't checked Colin James out, do yourself a favor, buy this album. If you bought some of his early stuff and haven't heard some of his recent stuff, it's time to revisit Mr. James. Like Colin James, I'm a musician living in Vancouver, and his sometime bassist Doug Elliott also plays with my band, but that's not why I recommend this album. "Christmas" is the latest in a long series of Little Big Band projects stretching back to 1992, and Colin has a deft way with the jump-blues guitar-horns-organ format, which he revived long before Brian Setzer.

What that means is this album, though it contains both traditional chestnuts ("I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Let It Snow," "Baybe It's Cold Outside") and some swingin' alternatives ("Cool Yule," "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus," the gospel-style "Go Where I Send Thee"), is remarkably refreshing in the sea of sappy-sweet versions you hear this time of year. The songs go from the campy (Peter Gunn & Rawhide) to the dancable (Shake Your Tail Feathers) to the standard (Sweet Home Chicago & Minnie the Moocher). With a phenomenal backup band (The old Saturday Night Live orchestra) and some classic guest vocalists (Chaka Khan, James Brown and Ray Charles to name a few) it's a treat for the ears. Eleven songs pack both a variety and depth of fun music.

The only downside on the album is two missing songs. Some might expect Soul Man, which was perhaps Belushi & Akroyd's most famous tune. I personally missed John Lee Hooker's ... Read More:

Someone wanted to know what the album was that had Cadillac Baby on it. It's Colin James and the Little Big Band.

I haven't actually heard this CD but I have 4 other CD's by this man and they are all awesome. Each record he does has a different sound/feel and it blows me away how he can produce top notch stuff in every style he tries. What a talent. I am now going to order this CD as well:-)
