This disc is quite a change from Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà previous album, the smooth and soothing Un Conte De Fees/Fairy Tale.
While exploring a whole new world with Glass Music, she reminds us of some of the incredible music he composed and she reminds us of some good films (Mishima, La Belle & La Bête). Captivating, never boring, with this Portrait, she made a moving disc.

If you are a Mozart freak and just have to own all that genius's music, this is the least expensive way to start (though it is not an exhaustive collection). In general, it is a very good collection, performed by a wide variety of orchestras and singers. However, the quality on some of the CD's is noticably poorer than one might hope - lacking the clear, crisp sound you might expect on a $25 CD. But for this price for 170 CDs, it is still well worth the money.
I only wish they had recorded them chronologically so the listener could appreciate the development of Mozart's genius. Instead, they lump symphonies together and concertos together, etc. Not nearly as much fun.

When I saw Paul Potts perform on You Tube I was totally in awe. His voice literally gave me goose bumps and made me feel tearful with awe over the wonderful voice this man has. I could hardly believe what I was hearing. I've since bought his album and am thrilled to have it.

I saw the HD presentation in 2007 and was so impressed that I went back for the encore two weeks later. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that the Met would get a dvd of the production out so fast. I pre-ordered 2 copies the minute it was advertised. I am a devoted fan of Renee Fleming and she didn't disappoint; nor did Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Ramon Vargas was in excellent voice. The setting(for me) emphacized the isolation of the Russian steppe-vast landscape with few people. The ballroom scenes, with chairs hemming everyone in, seemed to symbolize the constrictions of conventional society. I know some people objected to the minimalist nature of the sets, but they worked for me and underlined some important facets of the opera. Aside from ... Read More:
