A beautiful and stirring Christmas compilation. Sarah Brightman's A Winter Symphony takes you on a spiritual journey--a journey so fitting for Christmas. Sarah inspires the listener with her voice as she sings both traditional and modern Christmas songs.

Before buying this album, I had never before heard Sarah Brightman. I was always aware of her, but hers was a musical genre I would never be interested in venturing into ... or so I thought. I'm not sure why, but something made me purchase this album and I am so glad that I did. From first listen, it almost literally knocked me on my behind and opened my eyes (and ears) to some bold new territory for me.
The opening track "Gothica" is a short, theatrical mood builder that kicks into a very powerful symphonic-rocker, "Fleurs Du Mal". Some highlights for me are the duet with Andrea Bocelli - "Canto Della Terra". "Sanvean" sounds like something that could be on a Lord of the Rings soundtrack and there is even a duet with Paul Stanley of Kiss ... Read More:

Sarah Brightman has changed as much as her music has, going from Broadway singer to the ultimate Christine Daae, and then to an astounding pop diva.
That said, people who have her other albums really shouldn't bother with "Diva: The Singles Collection," because they will already have this music. However, this is an outstanding place for newcomers -- who may be overwhelmed by the quantity of Brightman's music -- to get acquainted with both her best pop tunes and her earlier work on Broadway.
It opens with two of her best musical numbers, both from her starmaking turn as Christine. First the dark, dramatic "Phantom of the Opera" ("In sleep he sang to me/in dreams he came...") and the sensual "Music of the Night," which has her ... Read More:

I have looked in vain for Time To Say Goodbye with Bocelli
and for an email address for Amazon.ca so I could get an answer.
Just do NOT have any luck in my search.
Brightman is OK but I want it by BOCELLI.
I will have to do with it on tape from my radio and TV. I want it on CD. I don't think it exists. If it does they are keeping it a secret. I buy a lot rom Amazon but no more until they figure out a way that I as a customer an get an answer to a fair question.

Sarah Brightman is known for her diversity when it come to her music, this album is probably the most diverse yet. Fly starts off with the world famous 'Time to Say Goodbye', which is a beautiful song, but does not fit with the albums electronica feel. The rest of the album is a journey through love in space, which is probably inspired from Sarahs career in the late 70's.
Favorites of mine from the album are 'Murder in Maryland Park', 'A Question of Honor', 'I Loved You', and 'You Take my Breath Away', which was later reprised on the American release of 2003's Harem.
The two duets on the album, 'How Can Heaven Love Me' and 'Something in the Air' I absolutley adore. The contrasting vocals are a nice change that should be done more ... Read More:

For music lovers in general, if you ever pick up this album you may notice that many of the songs will seem familiar, but re-written to Brightman-esque style.
Favourites on this album are 'Scarborough Fair', I really like this version because their are other instruments used other than guitar! 'Figlio Perduto', a small section of a full symphony taken from Beethoven, and 'Hijo de la Luna', a spanish song that I simply adore. Other covers on the album are 'Here With Me' originally by Dido, and 'Gloomy Sunday' made famous by Billie Holiday.

I love this cd. I came across this when I was 9 years old and I fell in love with it. The music is sophisticated and dreamy; it painted wonderful landscapes for my imagination!
"In Paradisum" is ancient-sounding and a bit exotic. I love the use of the male voices in "Eden". I hadn't heard the original before buying this cd and I have to admit that Sarah's version is better! "So Many Things" is charming and calming. "Anytime, Anywhere" is very dramatic and a bit sombre - beautiful! "Deliver Me", "Nella Fantasia" (she was the first to sing this!) and "Only An Ocean Away" are simply divine. "Scene D'Amour" introduced me to cello and I realized how gorgeous that instrument is, especially paired with Sarah's angelic voice!
This cd has inspired me to become ... Read More:

There are 3 Sarah albums that soar above just anything else out there today.(1) LaLuna,(2) Time To Say Goodbye,(3) Eden..It is asking too much for anyone to continue on such a high level, but this album is just about as good as these three! There are some nifty ,toe-tapping neo-disco tunes here which might even be called joyful, especially the first 3! And I admit I first did not really like this CD, but on further playing, it's now among my all-time favorites. On a few tunes, including the title "Harem", Sarah's breathing is very audible, something the sound engineers should have eliminated. (This is my only criticsm, though) An original here "Till the End of Time" is among Sarah's alltime best, and there are many other worthy moments, including new versions ... Read More:

Received the CD as a gift from a real good friend of mine (you know who you are). First of all, the CD showcases some of Sarah's most memorable songs which haven't received as much recognition as others have. This compilation features different versions of songs we're already familiar with...starting with "Love Changes Everything"...which isn't annoying & tinny, compared to the version on the "ALW Collection #1". I can't stand that version! This one has a heavier bass-line with a nicer, softer ending.
"Only You" is a track which I only heard as a poorly downloaded mp3 from a cracking, scratchy vinyl. So...I never really had the chance to enjoy it. But now that it's been re-mastered onto CD, I like it. It's a wonder this one got to see ... Read More:
